AGRO is doubling cold storage capacity and expanding the veterinarian border inspection facilities.
AGRO Merchants Group, a global leader in cold storage and logistics solutions, announced its plans to expand its cold store in Maasvlakte, in the port of Rotterdam. The strategic investment will bring the total capacity of the facility to more than 35,000 pallet spaces and will also expand the Border Inspection Point, both currently operating at full capacity.
The Maasvlakte facility opened its doors in December 2016 and demonstrated the strong demand in the Rotterdam market by quickly reaching capacity. As the busiest container port in Europe and the first port of call for most major shipping lines, the Port of Rotterdam is a leading import and export hub for perishable cargo.
AGRO Merchants Maasvlakte specializes in offering integrated cold storage and logistics solutions for the seafood and meat sector, including transport & distribution, customs documentation, veterinarian border inspection and bonded storage.
Construction works on the expansion is expected to commence in April 2020. The Border Inspection Point extension is expected to be operational in Q3 2020 and the cold store expansion to be completed in Q1 2021.
