AGRO Merchants is currently working on two new expansion projects – in Urk, the Netherlands and Pedricktown, New Jersey.

The expansion of AGRO Merchants Urk will be the second one for the facility in recent years. The first one was completed in 2015 and added 7,200 pallet spaces to the site’s capacity. Due to increasing demand, AGRO has decided to expand the facility the second time by adding another 13,750 pallet spaces. Apart from the additional storage space, the expansion will also include new blast freezing capabilities, a specialized chamber for storing product at -60°C, and an improved design to handle case picking.

The expansion will bring the facility’s capacity up to 42,000 pallets and will allow AGRO to diversify the service offering in Urk. The expansion is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2019.

AGRO Merchants Urk is specialized in storage and value-added services for the frozen seafood sector. The facility is located in the middle of fish trade and processing centre in Urk and offers flexible solutions such as order and case picking, quality inspections and customs clearance.

AGRO is also expanding its facility in Pedricktown, New Jersey to accommodate growing demand from its customers. The facility expanded several times, last in 2013. The current project will add another 12,000 sq. feet, and include a remodel of existing space to add food processing capabilities into the site. The expansion is also expected to be completed and ready for operations in Q2 of 2019.

AGRO’s high density and volume storage facility in Pedricktown was purposefully designed to optimize load presentations to the USDA. Strategically positioned in the tri state region; the ports of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey are within drayage distance. The site is positioned on the I-295 corridor and proximate to the major North East interstate roadways for domestic distribution.
