Strategic acquisition strengthens regional operations and service offering.

Atlanta, Georgia (USA), August 1, 2018 – AGRO Merchants Group, a global leader in cold storage and logistics solutions, announced today the acquisition of Transmode, a leading regional transportation business based in Paulsboro, NJ with most of its business operations in Philadelphia, PA.  This transaction substantially enhances AGRO’s North East transportation operations with a primary focus on meat and other protein commodities. Vince D’Anella – owner of Transmode and a well-known industry executive with more than 35 years of industry experience – will continue in a lead role at AGRO as Director of Transportation.

Established in 1995, Transmode is today the largest regional meat delivery service in the North East United States and one of the most important players in this import market.  Transmode’s operations are split between port drayage services and outbound transportation to distribution centers and processing facilities.  The business developed a stellar reputation due to its responsiveness, service quality and long-standing relationships with meat receivers and operators.  Transmode is an active member of several leading trade associations including the Meat Importers Council of America (MICA), the World Trade Association and Ship Philly First.

“This transaction is a natural fit for our business, which continues to grow and specialize in the commodity and value-added services segments,” said Dave Moore, President of AGRO Merchants North America.  “Vince is an industry leader with whom AGRO has enjoyed a long-standing business relationship through our Mullica Hill operations led by Dan Sorbello.  This business combination gives us scale and operational benefits to better support our customers’ supply chain.  I look forward to working with Vince and his entire team as they join AGRO Merchants Group.”

Vince D’Anella commented: “I am pleased to be part of AGRO Merchants Group.  Our two companies have collaborated for years to the benefit of our many shared customers.  Transmode and AGRO share common values, commodity expertise and a focus on delivering value to our customers.  I am confident that this strategic combination will accelerate our national growth strategy and enhance the company’s service offering.”
