Anuga Attracts a Record Number of Visitors

Anuga 2017, the biggest trade show for the food and drinks industry, took place in Cologne, from the 7th to the 11th of October. Anuga houses 10 trade shows under one roof at the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds, including Anuga Meat, Anuga Frozen Food, Anuga Dairy and others.

The previous edition of Anuga, in 2015, hosted about 160,000 visitors, but the 2017 edition broke the record again and welcomed 165,000 visitors from 198 countries. 7,400 exhibitors from 107 countries showcased their products and services, including AGRO Merchants Group. The AGRO Merchants team visited the trade show in the past years, and decided to exhibit this year.

In the past year AGRO has grown its network by five additional locations – a brand new facility in Maasvlakte-Rotterdam, a facility in the Lisbon area, two in
the Porto area in Portugal and another one in Gdansk, Poland. These facilities have now been onboarded into the group, which consists of 61 facilities in 11 countries.

Jan Harthoorn, Meat & Poultry Category Manager at AGRO Merchants Group, commented:

“Anuga is a hugely important trade show for our business. As we rolled out rebranding of our portfolio companies this year, it is very important for us to have an even better recognition in the industry, so we decided to have an exhibition stand this year. The service scope and geographical reach that we can offer to our customers is unrivalled and we wanted to start a conversation with people attending the show.”

Some of the hot topics of this years’ Anuga were the impacts of Brexit on the industry, transparency through the supply chain, e-groceries, sustainability and food safety.
