In late 2015 AGRO Merchants Group completed an expansion project in the Castlecool Lough Egish facility, bringing integrated solutions and value-added services to many of its customers. Castlecool is the largest temperature controlled warehousing company in Ireland, offering a wide and diverse range of services, including storage and handling, cross docking, order picking, tempering, quality control and back office support. With the recent investment, AGRO became the first logistical service provider running a packing operation in the Irish Republic.
The new packing facility, adjacent to the existing coldstore rooms, presents state-of-the-art machinery with UV tunnels, Ishida Multihead weighing, metal detection, check weighing and ink jetting capabilities. The new line is suitable for fixed weight bag packing for all food products, including meat, poultry, fish, snacks, fries and many others.
The integrated solutions available bring new opportunities for customers to expand their business, including product inspections and testing, UV food treatment, repacking and bagging, store-ready labeling and coding, case picking, seal verification, quality inspection and many others. Customers can reduce costs by packing the products in a high-care facility, allowing finished goods to be stored in the required temperature and distributed to the end customer with a more efficient logistics process.
Paul Shortt, General Manager of Castlecool said, “We are very pleased that additional client and industry needs are now being met. This new packing facility demonstrates our commitment to provide best-in-class services to our customers and support industry innovation.” Castlecool joined the AGRO Network of companies in May 2014.
Gerbrand Goed, project manager at AGRO Merchants Group added, “This expansion is one of a series of investments by AGRO. It allows us to offer superior services to our customers and meet the increasing demands of the marketplace.”
